As a child photographer, sometimes you have to take the opportunities as they come and schedule sessions on the fly. Take this child photography session for instance. We had been waiting for a warm day to schedule a session with this sweet, little girl and when we saw that the temperature was right and the light would be perfect that evening; we jumped on the opportunity to make this session happen.
Being a working mom, I had struck out trying to find childcare with such late notice and my husband was traveling for work, so my good friend (and mother of my client) offered to watch my 3 little munchkins during the session at a nearby playground so that we could make it happen. So, once we arrived at the location, we swapped children and headed to the session location. I knew that I would probably only have about 20-30 minutes to capture the images I wanted, so on our walk to the dock, we spent some time bonding and playing. We even took a moment to visit the geese along the way. I wanted her to be very comfortable with me once we started the session so that I could quickly grab the images that I knew mom would fall in love with. This was also a sunset session, so the perfect light would only be around for a short time as well.
Once we got there everything went perfectly, the light was amazing and she was having so much fun and loving the camera, but then disaster struck. She took a tumble and was upset. Luckily, I carry magic kisses in my back pocket that immediately heal booboos 🙂 This allowed me to capture a few more of those perfect moments for mom. So, about 20 minutes later she was done! We headed back to mom and played on the playground with friends for a few minutes before the sun completely faded under the horizon. So, thankful that I get to share some special time with all of these beautiful children. You can see the results of this session below.
